The kind of cases handled by us
The following are examples of cases we recently concluded on behalf of our clients:
- We acted for a boy who sustained brain damage following the failure to monitor his temperature after he underwent a cardiac catheterisation procedure. We secured a settlement with a capitalised value of over £4.4 million.
- We acted for child who sustained cerebral palsy at birth after a failure of the medical team to respond promptly to a deterioration in the baby’s condition during labour. A settlement of £2.55 million was achieved.
- We acted for a man who sustained a head injury following a fall from a height at work. A settlement of £715,000 was achieved.
- We acted for a welder who fell from a ladder during the course of his work and sustained a head injury. A settlement of £325,000 was secured.
- We acted for a young man who was a passenger in a car and sustained a head injury. This case settled for £1.2 million.
We also fight hard to try to ensure our clients receive early and effective rehabilitation during the course of their cases. For example, in the landmark ruling of Summer Braithwaite -v- Homerton University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (2008) we won an £850,000 interim payment for the purchase of a house and to set up a care regime in advance of the final settlement for a client with quadriplegic cerebral palsy that was caused by the mismanagement of her birth.
